Prof. Takashi Tatsumi received his B.E. M.E. and Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo. He joined the faculty of the same university in 1974, where he was Associate Professor of Synthetic Chemistry until 1998. He was appointed to a professor at Yokohama National University in 1998. In 2005 he moved to Tokyo Institute of Technology as Chair of the Division of Catalytic Chemistry, Laboratory of Chemical Resources. In 2012, he was appointed Director of Laboratory of Chemical Resources, Tokyo Institute of Technology. In October 2013, he was appointed the Executive Vice-president for Research of Tokyo Institute of Technology. Since April 2015, he has been President, National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE).
Prof. Tatsumi authored more than 420 research papers in scientific journals. For his research in synthesis and catalytic applications of novel zeolites and mesoporous materials and the design of catalytic reactions toward green and sustainable chemical synthesis, Prof. Tatsumi has been granted Chemical Society of Japan Award, Japan Petroleum Institute Award, Science & Technology Award from the Minister of Education & Science, Catalysis Society of Japan Award, and Alwin Mittasch Prize from DECHEMA.
