She is a Full Professor in Chemistry at the University Federal of São Carlos. Her research interest on medicinal chemistry is the synthesis of bioactive natural products and analogs, towards the discovery of new enzymatic inhibitors and drugs for the treatment of tropical diseases.
The research group also focus on the development of new synthetic methods employing the Green Chemistry principles, such as organocatalysis and multicomponent reactions. She is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the American Chemical Society and director of the Centre of Excellence for Research in Sustainable Chemistry.
